Will he or won't he? Hopefully he'll make the right choice and dismantle the SC juggernaut. Besides, 'bout time Carroll gets taken down a notch. The national championship this year was definitely a product of Norm Chow. We'll see how far Pete can go once he's alienated the secret to SC's success. Go Titans!

Ask Carroll about his mediocre NFL coaching tenures with New England and the New York Jets, and he testily quibbles with consensus judgments about his performance. He'll insist he was successful, a debatable take considering his 33-31 record.

He also has gone out of his way on occasion to point out he is significantly involved in the Trojans' offensive planning and preparation. Writers looking for flowery praise while working on Chow profiles often find Carroll surprisingly bland.
