In line with the recent slander* of Japanese culture in such places as Lost in Translation and Kill Bill, volume 1, Slate has a series of diary articles from a gaijin [Seth Stevenson] who's visiting Japan and recording the cultural... oddities of the Japanese. As the series is titled: "Tokyo on One Cliché a Day":

- Day One: Wacky Food
- Day Two: Manga
- Day Three: Inane Protocol
- Day Four: Capsule Hotels
- Day Five: Earthquakes; Confusing, Incestuous Politics; Xenaphobia; The Land of Cute; Extreme Harmony; and Incomparable Arcade Games

* Okay, slander might not be the right word, but I'm pretty sure the audience is not laughing *with* the Japanese, but rather at them...
